An Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) (subclass 601) is designed for people who are outside Australia and who want to visit Australia for the purpose of holidays, tourism, recreation or informal study.
To be eligible for this Visa, you must:
- be outside Australia
- hold a citizen passport from an ETA eligible country
You can stay for up to 3 months on each visit within the validity of the Visa. ETAs are valid for 12 months from the date of grant, or for the life of the passport if the passport expires in less than 12 months from the date the ETA was granted.
To apply for an ETA online, you must hold a passport from an eligible country.
While you are in Australia you can:
- Visit family and friends.
- Engage in tourist activities.
- Study for up to 3 months.
