Expression of Interest (EOI) and “SkillSelect” VISA

Government may Nominate EOI’s

  • Individual State and Territory governments also use the SkillSelect program.
  • Selecting candidates for nomination, invitations will be forwarded if you have been chosen.
  • Do you Measure up to be a Candidate?
  • Whether you are applying for Visas under Independent, Employer Sponsored or Nominated by a Region, you need to receive an invitation.
  • Some of the questions you need to ask yourself to see if you fit the criteria:
  • Do you have a high score in your testing?
  • Is your position listed on the Skilled Occupation List (SOL)?
  • Do you have a sponsor?
  • Is your skill required under the governments State Migration Plan?
  • Can you receive an invitation?
  • Is there a labour shortage in your particular work force?

Applying for a Visa?

SkillSelect is via an online service, here are the following requirements.

  • Complete an online form
  • This form directly goes to eLodgement
  • All your information must be truthfully and correctly completed
  • You may or may not be able to update or correct information already in the system, depending on the type of updates
  • All information is recorded and kept in the database
  • Await invitation to be forwarded

It is as simple as that.

Simplification via SkillSelect Visa Application

Location is not a problem, whether you are in Australia or in another country, you can apply.
If in Australia, you can apply with any visa or look into a bridging visa, A, B or C.
A skills testing is mandatory in this application.
The skills assessment must be valid at the time of lodging your application.

Consolidated Sponsored Occupation List (CSOL)

Have you been nominated by a State or Territory?
If you have applied and been nominated by a State or Territory for a General Skilled Visa, you must complete a Consolidated Sponsored Occupation List (CSOL).
You must choose a profession on the Listing.
The (CSOL) is relevant for applications;

  • A Direct Entry Stream Employer Nomination Scheme Visa
  • Temporary Work Skilled Visa (457)
  • Training and Research Visa (402)

Applicants who require a Skills Assessment

Please note, if your visa requires a skills assessment the following is required:

  • You must contact the assessing authorities directly
  • All forms will be provided
  • A cost is involved for the assessment

Requirements for a General Skilled Visa

  • You must be 45 years or under
  • Sufficient in speaking English
  • Your qualifications must be on the Skilled Occupations List
  • You must be tested prior to application on your particular skill
  • A Medical examination is required to ensure you are in good health
  • You must be of good Character
