Famous Australians: 4 of Australia’s Biggest Stars

When it comes to the rich and famous, Hollywood usually takes center stage, but nobody could accuse Australia of lacking its own celebrities. These are just a handful of the most famous Australians around.

Hugh Jackman

Although his parents originated from the UK, High Jackman was born and raised in Sydney. Immediately after graduating from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, he bagged his first role in the ABC prison drama, Correlli. However, he is possibly best known for portraying Wolverine in the X-Men movie franchise.

Nick Cave

Nick Cave is perhaps Australia’s most famous alternative musicians — critics love him and fans revere him. He started out in proto-punk band, The Birthday Party, before going on to gain more mainstream success with Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. He’s also written a couple of well-received novels: …And the Ass Saw the Angel and The Death of Bunny Monro.

Chris Hemsworth

Chris Hemsworth paid his dues with a few years on Home and Away, before rising to international fame. His big break was playing Kirk in the 2009 Star Trek film. However, he is perhaps best known for his role as Thor in a number of movies belonging to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, notably Thor and The Avengers.

Kylie Minogue

After starting out where a number of Australian stars have done before her — on the TV soap Neighbours — Kylie Minogue went on to be an international pop sensation, with a number of hit singles and albums under her belt. She even appeared on a track with fellow Aussie musician, Nick Cave.
