Requirements for a Visa Sponsorship.

  • You must live for at least 2 years in the nominated State or Territory
  • You must advise of any changes or updates to the Department of Immigration

Off-List Nominations
The State Government releases an extra 4,000 off-list nominations on an annual basis.
6 states are given 500 places to fill, allowing 4,000 extra positions in the skilled workforce.
For an off-list consideration, you may be required to prove you have previously worked or lived in the state or region, or have other ties such as family, or you have received a job offer.

  • Victoria
  • Western Australia

The relevant State or Territory will choose whether you fulfill all the criteria relating to work experience, skills and qualifications.

State Sponsored Visa’s (subclass 489)

Stage 1
A skills assessment is required.
This will ascertain if you have the required skills and attributes relating to your chosen position.
Stage 2 
If you have received a positive testing on your skills assessment, you need to complete an EOI on SkillSelect.
A state or territory sponsorship now needs to be applied for.
Experience and qualifications is a must, when choosing from their listing on the State Migration Plan.
Stage 3 
You will be issued now with an intention to apply (ITA).
Your final application will now be in the hands of the Department of Immigration.

Who can apply for an Expression of Interest (EOI)?
If you meet all the requirements for the Visa you are particularly interested in –you can apply.
You can apply if you outside of Australia, or if you are in Australia –legally.
There are no forms, just an on-line system, SkillSelect.

Can I apply for an Expression of Interest (EOI) if already in Australia?
An EOI can be submitted while in Australia, however note this is not an actual visa.
Firstly you must be legally abiding in Australia, and meet the requirement s of the particular visa you are applying for.
Is completing the English Test Compulsory?
Yes. You cannot complete an EOI if you have not completed and passed an English Test.
Can I update my information?
If you have any updates, such as change of details, you are required to update your details in SkillSelect.
It is also advisable to update any information such as extra experience you may have gained since you lodged your EOI.
Your details will be automatically updated and your ranking may increase your chances of selection.
Can I View my Ranking on the Expression of Interest (EOI)?
No. Details on SkillSelect are continually updated, thus your ranking will also continually change.
The amount of points your application brings you, will be advised at time of applying.
As invitations are given out, the website will publish the lowest scored visas handed out.
This will indicate your possibilities of receiving an invitation.
Will I be Re-imbursed of expenses incurred?
No. No guarantees are given that you will be called for an invitation.
All expenses incurred in preparing documents for your EOI is at your own cost.
How long does my Information exist in SkillSelect?
For a period of 2 years, if a Visa is granted in the meantime, your information will be erased from EOI.
If any terms have been violated, your application will be removed by the Department of Immigration.
