Firstly to be nominated for this visa, you must meet all requirements and be nominated by a State or Territory.
You may also be sponsored by a nominated relative, living in a certain area in Australia.

To be eligible for this visa, you are required to complete an Expression of Interest (EOI) via SkillSelect.
You must meet all requirements to be nominated by a State or Territory, prior to receiving an invitation to apply for this visa.

  • Fulfill all skills and qualifications
  • Match a qualification on the Skilled Occupation List (SOL)
  • English language requirements to be met
  • Be 45 years or under at time of application
  • Ensure your skills and qualifications are up-to-date
  • Points test must be 65 or higher
  • Meet all health requirements
  • Meet all character requirements

Australian Family Member Sponsorship Visa

The member of your family, who is sponsoring you, must be a permanent resident living and working in Australia.
If you are granted this visa, you are required to live and work in this particular area.
If you are also applying for permanent residency, you must be able to prove your living status in this area during your stay in Australia.

Family Sponsored Visa (The Skilled Sponsored Visa) (Provisional)(subclass 489) Application Process

Stage 1
A skills assessment is required.
This will ascertain if you have the required skills and attributes relating to your chosen position.
Stage 2
If you have received a positive testing on your skills assessment, you need to complete an EOI on SkillSelect.
A family sponsorship visa, with your Australian family member now needs to be applied for.
All sponsorship requirements must be fulfilled, and you must be able to prove you have been living in a designated area of Australia.
Stage 3 
You will be issued now with an intention to apply (ITA).
Your final application will now be in the hands of the Department of Immigration.

Designated Areas for Family Sponsorship in Australia

Your family member who is sponsoring you for a visa in a designated area, must live in one of the below designated areas of Australia for a period of at least 1 year.
They also must continue to live there during the time of processing your application until the granting of your visa.
