If your country of passport is the Philippines and you are aged 20 and would like to study a vocational course
In this case you will be assessed as a level 3.
To prove your eligibility you will need to fulfill a few requirements of which the first is to prove that you are a genuine temporary student and you would honestly like to study in Australia.
Secondly, you will need to provide evidence that you have access to money for your studies in Australia.
This money must be in your name, your partner’s name or other close relatives and you must have had access to this money for over three months before your apply.
This scenario is probably the most complex and difficult to get a visa.
It is normally a lot easier as you will not have to show this amount of money.
You will only have to declare on your application that you have access to this amount and not provide proof of this.
Once you are sure that you fulfill the requirements for the visa, you can start the enrolment process at the school.
For the enrolment in some cases you might need a formal English test like the IELTS test or the TOEFL test.
After applying to the school you will receive a Letter of Offer.
You will then need to make payment of the Letter of Offer directly to the school and it is normally for one semester.
In most cases you can also pay your healthcare insurance that you will need for your visa through the school.
Once the payment has gone through you will receive an Acceptance Agreement from the school that you will need to sign.
When this is signed and returned the school will issue you a Confirmation of Enrolment.
With this document you will be able to apply for your visa.
In most cases the applications are made by mail to the local embassy and only in a few circumstances applying online is available.
When submitting your application, make sure you have all the required documents.
Some of the documents are:
- Your confirmation of enrolment with evidence of a health care insurance
- Your personal documents
- Evidence of your academic records
- Evidence of your access to funds
With your application it is always good to write a cover letter in which you will express your genuineness for studying in Australia
And make sure you make photocopies of all documents before you send because you might need to refer back to them.
After you have made your application you will receive an e-mail or a letter with a File Reference Number
You may use this number as a reference to contact the Department of Immigration and to check the progress of your application.
When a case officer is allocated they will either ask you for clarification on your documents, ask for further documents, asked for the medical examination or the best, if all documents a fine, grant the visa.
The process of allocating a case officer normally is not very long and you should have some type of contact with in a week or two.
When you get your visa you will be able to come to Australia immediately

Although you will have work rights, it will be limited to 40 hours per fortnight.
